Meeting Agenda

11:15 – 11:30 a.m. Announcements, Agenda, and Introductions
11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Xangati – Bernie Watson: Performance Management – Stop the Virtualization Blame Game
Xangati will explore why virtualization gets blamed for nearly every problem occurring in the infrastructure and what you can do about it. This presentation and technical demo will cover: Why the network, storage and application teams (and even vendors) point the finger at virtualization; What information you need to stop the blame war in its tracks and resolve the alleged virtualization problems; and Real-world examples when virtualization was wrongly blamed and what was the real culprit (or culprits).
Bernie Watson, Senior Systems Engineer at Xangati, frequently speaks at VMware User Conferences and local VMUGs. He helps IT organizations of all sizes to improve their cloud, virtualization and VDI performance management.
12:40 – 1:40 p.m. eGroup – John Flisher: What is better than a great vSphere application or utility, a free one
vSphere has a lot of third-party integration and this session takes a look at some of the best third-party tools out there and revels that they are entirely for free. Most of these applications are developed by devoted individuals who spend a lot of time and effort to make them freely available and often they are better than their paid counter parts. Join us as we take a look into to the top 10 Free vSphere applications and utilities.
John Flisher is a Technical Consultant for eGroup with 10+ years of experience in system and network administration, private and public cloud architectures, and storage area networks.
John’s background includes titles such as, Senior Network Administrator, VMUG Leader (Wilmington NC), Technology Manager, and VMworld Lab Instructor (2009).
